This evening we started with Pad-thai, the famous Thai noodle dish. We had dinner the previous evening with an Italian man who said that the Phuket airport had very good Pad-thai, so we listened to him and ordered it. It was actually very good. Big portion, not too oily, the rice noodles were cooked just right and what was a nice touch was that they put in three styles of shrimps.
The next dish was Panang curry. This is one of my favourite curries. It has beef, potatoes and peanuts. The Panang curry was the perfect thick texture that it is suppose to be. It had a good kick of spiciness to it and it was pure delight. The beef tender as usual and the Panang curry tasted so good on rice.
The next dish was Phuket Mee-Sapam; a local egg noodle dish with seafood, green kale and a raw egg in the middle. Oh-so-good! There is nothing else like this dish, and you cannot find it anywhere.
The next dish was a green curry with beef accompanied with roti. An absolutely wonderful dish. The green curry was more liquid than the Panang, which is the way is should be. The curry had aubergine and baby aubergine, sweet thai basil and beef. The beef was not as tender as it used to be. I was also not satisfied with the roti this time. Normally, the roti comes out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, so that you can use it to wipe up the curry sauce. This time the roti was limp and not crispy. A bit too oily as well. However, when this dish of curry and roti come out perfectly. It is a match made in heaven.
The last dish was Yum-woon-sen. A clear glass noodle salad with shrimp, ear mushrooms and minced pork. This is a very refreshing salad but can also be very spicy. The flavours are the perfect combination of sweet, sour and spicy. Not one flavour overwhelming the other. This was a nice dish to end the dinner with.
