Domain Alain Chabanon Chenin Blanc & Vermantino grape harvest

We came to the vineyard to witness the pressing of the grapes for the Trélans...the white wine of Domain Alain Chabanon.

The chenin blanc grapes.

The vermentino grapes.

The pressing machine.

The wonderful and sweet juices of the grapes.

The Trélans is one of the most unique white wines of the world. I can say that because it's assemblage of chenin 45% & vermentino 55% grapes does make it the only white wine in the world that has this combination.

'The Trélans is a luscious golden wine with a complex nose and overtones of dried flowers, citrus and spice. Rich, rounded mouth: an intriguing blend of tangy herbs with hints of honey and apple. A sophisticated wine to enjoy.' (www.terroirlanguedoc.co.uk). It is also a polarizing wine; I know people who absolutely love it and there are some people who I know do not understand it and therefore not like it. Luckily, the majority of people love the wine. Believe me; this is truly an amazing wine!!!

Alain Chabanon is based at Lagamas and has his vineyard in the village of Montpeyroux. All his superb wines undergo long macerations, with a minimum of four to five weeks. Alain has Grenache, Merlot, Syrah and Mourvèdre vines as well as some Chenin Blanc and is certified as fully organic - using no chemicals in the vineyard.
