La Terrasse du Mimosa (Montpeyroux, France)

After driving back from Barcelona; we arrived around 19:00 in Montpeyroux and it was too late to cook. So we decided to have dinner at La Terrasse du Mimosa. The best wine bistro in the area. There is no where else we can eat (or want to eat) in our area and lucky for us that La Terrasse is there.

La Terrase du Mimosa has a nice charm to it. Relaxing, comfortable and has a real nice bistro feel to it. The decor is rustic southern France with brilliant colours of oranges, yellows, reds and olive greens.

We shared a platter of local meets for the starter. The next village makes the most delicious pork products and its all organic. La Terrasse du Mimos serves this wonderful organic hams and pate. The hams just melted in the mouth and the pate had so much texture and taste.

The first main dish was grilled sword fish. The sword fish was of fine quality and was cooked perfectly (still slightly raw in the middle). The fish had a nice texture and taste. The side of fresh seasonal vegetables, spinach and lentils was hearty and filling.

The second main course was grilled pave de beouf. The steak was grilled perfectly as asked (still very pink in the middle) and was of the finest quality; so tender that it cut like butter. The potato gratin was creamy & soft and the roasted pumpkin was so yummy.

La Terrasse du Mimosa has a huge selection of wines from the are so we only drink local wines to support the local wine makers. The red wine that accompanied our dinner was a 2007 Le Clos de L'Aven. The wine had a very nice nose of black fruit (blackberries & blueberries) and pepper, good acidity for a young wine, well balanced and had a long finish.

The three of us shared a cheese platter that is normally for one. The Languedoc has some of the best cheeses around. So we are never disappointed with the cheeses we are served. They are always rich, creamy and intense in taste.

The wine cave where they sell wines to either drink in the bistro or take home.

We really enjoy going to La Terrasse du Mimosa. There are always places you feel comfortable returning over and over again. This is one of those places. The food is consistently good, the wine selection is huge, the food & wines are very affordable/ value, the ambiance is homey and cosy and the staff are the friendliest bunch of people around (as well as very professional and efficient).
