Wine Tasting & Dinner at Terrasse du Mimosa (Montpeyroux, France)

One of the nice things to do in Montpeyroux is to go to Terrasse du Mimosa for their weekly wine tastings. It is a great concept. Either they have a blind tasting or have a tasting based on a theme; for example, Merlot wines from different regions of France.

There is always a nice turn out for the wine tasting and dinner. For all the wines we get to taste (I tend to drink a lot of it as well) and the really nice dinner that accompanies the wine tasting after. I feel this is really a good value for money. On top of it all, since I am not a wine expert, I get to learn a lot about the wines of France.

This very cute dog was one of the guest at the wine tasting. She seemed not very interested in the wines, but her masters were.

The theme of the night for this wine tasting was: Is there any difference with the same producer that is in a normal bottle and in a magnum in the same vintage? The wines we tasted are listed below...

Mas De Daumas Gassac; 2007

Chateaux Camion 2007

Cornas 2007

L'Esprit de Font Caude 1998

Domain D'Aupilhac 2005

The cute dog getting bored waiting for all of us to stop wine tasting and to have dinner.

A lovely and warm evening to sit outside at the terrace under the stars to have dinner.

For the starter; we had a large tasting dish of tapas.

For the main course; we had organic farm raised pork.

The wine we chose for dinner was Fons Sanatis Senescal 2007.

Though the cute dog does not seem happy; she was and this was her best smile she could come up with.

Overall; a great evening with the wine tasting. The outcome...is there any difference between a wine that is in a normal sized bottle and magnum of the same producer and vintage. The majority of the wines did not have a huge difference in my opinion. Though some of the wines in the normal bottles were much more open than the ones in the magnum. While some of the wines in the magnums were drinking better. But, in the end, I am still a novice at noticing anything significant. That is why I enjoy going to these wine tastings so that I can learn something about wine.

The dinner was also very nice. The people we sat with were interesting and we had discussions way into the night. It was a lovely atmosphere eating at the terrace on the place central. We could not ask for anything nicer than this.

If you ever want to enjoy the wine tasting and dinner; just check their web site so you can see the the dates and themes that are coming up.

When was this tasting? - don't recall seeing it on La Terrasse website. Sounds superb.
